'Everlasting Classics': Shakespeare meets his Chinese match

'Everlasting Classics': Shakespeare meets his Chinese match Musical variety show "Everlasting Classics" paid tribute to two great playwrights – William Shakespeare and his Chinese counterpart Tang Xianzu – in its latest edition on Saturday. Singers Tan Weiwei and Zheng Qiyuan performed a song with lyrics from Shakespeare's masterpiece "Romeo and Juliet" and Tang's renowned "Dream in Peony Pavilion". Shakespeare and Tang were contemporaries and both died in 1616. The novel duet created a dialogue between the literary giants that crossed time and space and highlighted the shared themes of love and dreams in their works.
